SMOOTH JAZZ: Here is a short but tasty tidbit. In 1955, I wrote an arrangement of MEMORIES OF YOU for strings and trombone while in The U. S. Air Force Orchestra. That's me performing the solo. A long time ago, when I decided i wanted to be an arranger more than anything else, I started playing less trombone, but here's one time early on when I said - "this solo's meant for me, I'm playing this."
